On Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11:55 a.m., York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo at 820 E. Rochambeau Drive in the Williamsburg area of the county in Virginia. An older White male entered the branch wearing white shoes and socks, khaki shorts, a white t-shirt, and possibly a black hooded jacket with the sleeves cut off. He also was not wearing gloves and had a blue medical mask concealing part of his face. The video also displays part of a tattoo on his upper right arm. The male entered with a black bag and approached a teller and said something to the effect of “I’m here to rob you” or “I’m robbing you.” The teller initially dismissed him, thinking he was being humorous. However, the male replied “Let me rephrase, give me all the money in the drawer.” No note was produced and no weapon was displayed or implied. The teller complied and the suspect referenced knowing about a second drawer, however the teller informed him that she did not have a key to it. During the interaction, the teller noted that the male appeared to be sweating profusely. The male received US currency, exited the bank, and walked towards adjacent businesses.

On July 22, 2022, at approximately 12:53 p.m., an unknown White male individual entered the Wells Fargo bank located at 600 Thimble Shoals Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia, and stood in the customer queue. Upon reaching the teller counter, the man presented a black book bag-type backpack and orally demanded money. He implied possession of a firearm and presented an item underneath the black book bag-type backpack that appeared to be a firearm. He retrieved his backpack and departed the bank.

A silver “crossover” type automobile entered the northeastern side of the bank parking lot and parked facing Thimble Shoals Boulevard. The unknown suspect exited the automobile and walked toward the building.
