On June 23, 2012, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a lone male entered the Valley National Bank located at 107-01 Liberty Avenue in Queens, New York. The individual entered the bank, approached an employee in the lobby, and engaged her in conversation about opening an account before raising his shirt and exposing a handgun in his waistband. The suspect demanded money and was escorted to the teller counter where he again verbally demanded money. After receiving money, but before exiting the bank, the suspect stole a ring from the employee he had questioned earlier about opening an account. The suspect fled the bank on foot and was last seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.
